When a workflow needs more than static rules.
Many processes have clear steps but also contain points where information varies. Agentic automation combines fixed workflows, bounded AI interpretation, specialised agents and human control points.

Use fixed logic wherever possible. Use AI only where needed.
Stable rules, data transfer and approval routing remain deterministic. An agent is used only for tasks that require content classification, combining information or preparing next steps.
Suitable processes.
Good candidates have a recurring sequence, defined inputs and outputs and recognisable exceptions. The value comes from a sensible division of work between workflow, agent and person, not from maximum autonomy.

FAQ
Is agentic automation the same as an AI agent?
No. An agent can be one part of the process. Agentic automation describes the complete workflow of fixed steps, AI processing and controls.
When is conventional automation enough?
When inputs, rules and exceptions can be described reliably. A deterministic workflow is usually simpler in that case.
Can the process run without people?
Only when the risk, impact of errors and process ownership allow it. Critical steps can retain fixed approvals.
